Ragnar Lothbrok (793-865) was a Viking ruler and member of the Norse Brotherhood of Assassins. He is an ancestor of Tadhg Ormond and Michael Klotz, the latter through the paternal line.
Despite being the leader of a Viking tribe, Ragnar's persona as an Assassin was only known to a few individuals. While training alongside his brother Rollo, Ragnar achieved the rank of Master Assassin at the age of 22 and became Mentor of the Norse Assassins the following year.
Ragnar was married three times, first to Lagertha, then to Thora Town-Hart and finally to Aslaug. He was also the father of many renowned sons, including Ivar the Boneless, Björn Ironside, Hvitserk Ragnarsson, Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye, and Ubbe Ragnarsson. All of which were Assassins.
Ragnar was born in Bollnäs, Sweden son to the Swedish king Sigurd Ring.at the age of sixteen he left home as he wanted to be more than just a farmer. He then relocated to Gotland which is where he met Rollo, a young man who he saved from a gang of thugs. Ragnar befriended the young itinerant, and they soon began traveling together.
Two years later on Ragnar's eighteenth birthday, while Ragnar and Rollo were celebrating Ragnar saw a young lady named Lagertha beat up two men outside a bar, impressed by her fighting skills he tried to approach her but she soon fled and Ragnar covertly followed behind her. After a lengthy tail Ragnar tried to talk to her. However, Lagertha was not interested until two men called the Bear and Hound tried to attack her which lead to Ragnar killing them both. As a result, Lagertha was thankful of Ragnar's actions, and so she began a relationship with him.
After several months together Lagertha revealed to Ragnar that she was an Assassins and asked if Ragnar could join her order. Reluctant at first Ragnar soon became an Assassin due to his love for Lagertha.
