He is widely considered one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines and is implied by Philippine law to be one of the national heroes. He was the author of the novels Noli Me Tángere, El Filibusterismo, and many poems and essays. These books are what the templars hated most because the contents are right about them.

The Brotherhood[]

He formed an organization he called La Liga Filipina on July 3, 1892. This organization was to help the countrymen from the abuse of power by the Spanish government. However, Rizal was arrested on July 6, 1892, by Spanish authorities for being a threat to the Spanish government by this organization. Rizal's comrades were determined to pursue the organization's cause, so they formed two groups: Apolinario Mabini led the Cuerpo de Compromisarios, and the Katipunan, led by Andres Bonifacio.
